Frequently asked questions

In the 1990 thru 1996 Corvette factory service manuals, the main body computer is referred to as a CCM, which is an abbreviation for Central Control Module.

In the 1997 thru 2004 Corvette factory service manuals, the main body computer is referred to as a BCM, which is an abbreviation for Body Control Module.

Yes. The hardware portion of the Central Control Modules (CCM) used in Corvettes for the model years 1990 thru 1996 are exactly the same. The PROM based firmware varies from year to year but is not model specific. This means the base, convertible and ZR1 of a particular year use the same CCM.

Notwithstanding, model specific details are stored in the EEPROM of the CCM and during program execution, the firmware can jump to distinct subroutines that are model specific.

Yes, ZR1ECM repairs and upgrades Central Control Modules for Corvette model years 1990 thru 1996. We also sell plug'n play CCMs which can be pre-configured for a specific Corvette with VIN, Odometer, VATS Pass Key Code, Engine Type and Options uploaded to the EEPROM, so that once installed the CCM is ready for use.

ZR1ECM provides three levels of VATS Elimination:

METHOD ONE: We provide a standalone PROM chip with customized firmware, programmed to completely remove VATS. You will require electronic circuit board skills to remove the old PROM chip from your CCM's main board and to install the new PROM. A 28-pin DIP socket is recommended. This VATS Elimination PROM sells for 250 USD including shipping within the USA.

METHOD TWO: You send your CCM to us. We remove your old PROM chip, install a socket and the new PROM. We test and verify your CCM on our Corvette Emulator. This VATS Elimination upgrade sells for 500 USD including return shipping within the USA.

METHOD THREE: You purchase a ready-to-go CCM from us. This refurbished CCM will come loaded with your vehicle and model specific data along with the VATS Elimination PROM. This includes a 3-year warranty. The VATS Elimination upgrade sells for 750 USD including shipping within the USA.

The Corvette CCM 20:20 update is a significant upgrade to the Central Control Module hardware and software. This firmware is not compatible with stock original CCMs - hardware modifications are required.

The 20:20 Upgrade adds a Delayed Accessory Bus output for 1990 models, Digital Gauge Readouts for 1990 & 1991 models, an improved Vehicle Anti-Theft System with a 10-Second Lockout, On-the-Fly Diagnostics, Custom Boot-up Text, Unlimited TECH 1/1A updating and a 255 MPH speedometer.

Send us your CCM: The cost of updating your CCM with the 20:20 Upgrade is 750 USD including return shipping within the USA.

Purchase a CCM from us: The cost of a refurbished CCM with the 20:20 Upgrade, loaded with your Vehicle and Model Specific Data is 1000 USD including return shipping within the USA. This includes a 3-year warranty.
